    Our Christian Academy is currently seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher.  The right applicant will possess the ability to provide effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning, assessment, evaluation and related research for children ages 2-5 years old, in a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom climate.


    The Assistant Preschool Teacher maintains a safe and healthy environment and ensures that the individual needs of the children are met, in with accordance performance and outcome standards, as prescribed by our Church, federal, state and local standards, and organizational goals and values.  Responsible for the education and development of preschool children through maintaining a culturally sensitive classroom where children are supervised, cared for, and respected at all times. Assist with implementation of education activities and documentation in the classroom, parent conferences and other special events as they occur. Interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner that enables them to feel comfortable, happy, engaged and safe. Develop positive relationships with parents/families. Collaborate effectively with lead teacher, aide, center staff and outside consultants to provide a seamless educational experience for children that is reflective of diverse races, cultures, and languages. Be a positive role-model, exhibiting respectful and courteous behavior to children, staff, and parents/guardians.


    Preferred -

    • Minimum of 5 or more years’ experience in preschool/pre-kindergarten environment along with the knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design and teaching and instruction.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google G-Suite, email and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology
    • Spanish Speaking a plus.


    Required -

    • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education or related field.
    • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a relevant early childhood group setting required.
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google G-Suite, email and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
    • Effective organizational, planning and group management skills with children.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor communication to different audiences.
    • Ability to build rapport and respect the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of the population served.
    • Continuous learner who leverages opportunities for learning and applies new knowledge and skills.
    • Ability to maintain accurate and complete records and documentation as needed.
    • Willing and able to work flexible hours (between 7am - 6:30pm) to accommodate program needs
    • Occasional travel in the Chicagoland area may be required.
    • CPR/First Aid Certified or willingness to be certified.
    • Must pass DCFS background check, including fingerprinting, and maintain clearance throughout employment.
    • Able to physically and mentally interact and react to children in the classroom and/or on the playground, and attend to their needs.
      • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
      • Able to stand up to 90% of the day
      • Able to stoop, bend and sit on a child's level
