  • Overview

    The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the marketing and corporate communications strategic plan, and implementation of related initiatives.  The Director will expand the brand and distribution channels, manage all digital marketing channels,  and provide quality control for internal and external communications.  Provide leadership and oversight to the website team, communications team, graphic designers and volunteers. Provide guidance to managers and ministry leaders on best practices.   

    Responsibilities

    • Develop strategic communications plan to support the organization's mission, goals and objectives, enhance social media presence with an integrated marketing approach.
    • Directly supervise a team of 3 individuals including two graphic designers, and a volunteer team leader.  Indirectly supervise 7 volunteers.  
    • Monitor content, presentation and system performance levels for website, app and all digital communications.  Perform quality control functions on content and presentation. 
    • Develop, impement and manage external communication efforts.  Build and foster longterm working relationships with media, members of the community, public relations or community affairs offices of corporations.
    • Ensure services and special events are promoted through appropriate channels in a way that supports the vision and strategic direction of the organization.
    • Develop the brand by expanding distribution channels, and sourcing appropriate outlets.  
    • Provide guidance to graphic designers.  Manage workflow, turnaround time, and the performance.
    • Facilitate team meetings with website team, graphic designers and volunteers.
    • Build and foster collaborative relationships within the organization to stay informed and abreast of new initiatives, programs and services in order to effectively promote and publicize these activities.  Coordinate with ministry leaders, Creative Arts Team, and Production staff to ensure all aspects of communication have been covered.
    • Ensure Marketing and advertising expenses are made in compliance with budget.  Negotiate terms/costs.  Obtain approval for large expenditures. 
    • Obtain reports and assess analytics for all digital marketing sites.  Strategically enhance digital footprint. Report on metrics regarding internet traffic, app traffic, quality ratios, and branding/communications initiatives or issues. Ensure significant milestones updated in organization's archives.
    • Manage internal communictions protocol.  Evaluate processes and workflow.  Identify enhancements to increase efficiency and quality.
    • Work with Public Relations vendor on major events to strategize and implement effective public relations plan. May be called upon to develop press releases, fact sheets, talking points.
    • Maintain discretion and confidentiality of sensitive information.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports the mission, vision, values, policies and procedures of organization. 
    • Additional duties may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    • College degree with concentration in marketing, business, or communications is preferred.
    • At least five years of previous experience in a Marketing Director type role.
    • A background in large church or ministry marketing is a plus.
    • A solid background in marketing management and strategic planning experience, complemented with a proven track record in developing and administering marketing programs.
    • Proven experience in team building, creative thinking, systems management, and creative problem solving. 
    • Exceptional technical skills in written and oral communication role. Graphic design, web, and multimedia experience are highly desirable.
    • Strong leadership skills are vital to the successful execution of roles and responsibilities of this position.
