  • Overview

    The Business Manager is part of the executive team, and works closely with executive management, directors and department leaders to ensure that the business aspects of operations, administration and ministry are aligned with the strategic vision and goals.  The Business Manager will oversee projects, and analyze financial matters related to the business of the organization and related entities.  He/she will also represent organization within the community, and with key stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    1. Manage multiple strategical and tactical projects and initiatives simultaneously related to the business needs of the organization and related entities.
    2. Develop requests for proposals, review and analyze internal and external data to determine the proper course of action.   
    3. Negotiate contracts with vendors, including performance based terms and conditions, service level agreements and cost effectiveness.  Work closely with General Counsel.
    4. Manage budget development, analyze financial performance of operation, administration, facilities, ministry and related entities. 
    5. Monitor spending, keeping staff appropriately informed regarding spending per budget items and/or events. Identify opportunities to enhance organizational financial performance.
    6. Review and approve expenditures, check requests ensuring that financial controls, policies and procedures, and contract terms are adhered to. 
    7. Act as a business adviser to the CEO/Senior Pastor and Executive Team.  Assist the CEO/Senior Pastor in facilitating effective decision making.
    8. Develop relationships with community leaders and serve as the organization's liaison with various constituents.
    9. Ensure that decisions and activities are handled with integrity and transparency.
    10.  Maintain high level of visibility with management team, board of directors and key stakeholders.
    11. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial management, project management, and leadership.  Highly skilled in financial analysis, budget, and strategic planning.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting/Finance or related field; advanced degree a plus.
    • Knowledge of business aspects of church administration, church operations, facility management, non-profit regulatory requirements a plus.
    • Flexible and able to work within a fast moving, changing environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions. 
    • Excellent communication skills with an ability to lead and  partner with a dynamic leadership team.
    • Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to create, design and implement financial strategies to support organizations vision.
    • Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment to organization’s mission.

     

    Travel

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, occasional out of area and overnight travel may be expected.
